Jack has more than 35 years of consulting and management experience serving global electric and gas utility markets. His special focus is on deregulation, competitive positioning, and the management of change. He also has extensive expertise in strategic planning, organizational effectiveness and asset, and performance management. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is well known for his perspectives on industry strategic directions.

Prior to founding UMS Group, Jack was a senior member of Booz Allen & Hamilton's utility practice.

He also served for 11 years in various leadership capacities at two major U.S. east coast utilities. Jack holds a professional engineer's license and an M.B.A. in finance from New York University.

Ennio Senese is the Group COO and group board member of UMS Group, a US-based consultancy boutique for the energy industry. In addition, he is a non-executive advisor to GEP consultancy. Prior to this, he was a strategy advisor to ILF, as well as an interim Vice President until January 2018, based in Munich. From November 2010 until February 2016, Ennio was the Chief Executive Officer of a private equity group, focused on mid-and downstream acquisitions, and held various MD positions on their behalf. In addition, Ennio holds various non-exec board and advisory positions with NGOs and charities in Europe. From June 2008 until January 2012 Ennio served as the Executive Managing Partner leading Accenture’s Resources practice in the East Mediterranean, based in Rome with offices in Athens and Istanbul.

Prior to Accenture, he was an Executive Director with Shell Global Solutions, focusing on the third party and JV business of Shell globally, but specifically the Med and Turkey, in addition to being Chairman of Shell Services Italy and board member of Shell Italy, where he has worked for ten years, including three years as an external Strategy consultant.

Furthermore, Ennio has held positions with two big five Consulting companies for more than 14 years and has 37 years of international experience of which 26 years specifically in the Energy industry, with a focus on Strategy, Procurement, M&A, and Performance Improvement in the areas of Reliability and Efficiency in the manufacturing and distribution domain. He has successfully led and participated, among others, in a variety of change implementations and efficiency programs in the Oil and Gas industry.

Ennio studied Law and Business Management in Amsterdam and London and holds a Master's degree in International Law. In September 2013 Ennio was awarded a DBA after having completed a three-year executive program with the Universities of California and San Jose’ (UNEM). He has completed several professional and certifying courses with US and European Universities and is a certified and qualified negotiator. He is a fellow of the Energy Institute, of which he was also the Chairman for Europe, a Fellow of the International Institute of Management Consultants, and a former committee member of the Oil Council. He is furthermore a participative member of the Alumni association of the University of Amsterdam and international NGOs in the areas of inter-religious dialogue, humanitarian aid, and environmental preservation. He has received decorations and honors from various international organizations, among which from Royal houses and supranational organizations.

As a finance professional, Theresa brings over 15 years of experience focusing on financial and operational management. Serving as a trusted financial advisor to the CEO, COO and BOD; she is committed to organizational improvements, implementation of our strategic vision and establishment of best practices in finance and accounting.

Prior to joining UMS, Theresa served as a controller within the photonics and metal fabrication industry specializing in ERP software and ISO9000 implementation as well as KPI development to drive business improvements and strengthen financial performance. Theresa is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New Jersey and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.

Nicholas is Vice President, Consultancy and Managing Director, North America for UMS Group, Inc.

He has obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Dayton, and his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He also completed the Leadership for Senior Executive Program at Harvard Business School.

Nicholas started his career as an attorney with a large Midwest law firm, practicing initially in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then in Cleveland, Ohio with a focus on construction law. After a successful career as an attorney, he pivoted to energy, working for FirstEnergy Corp. initially as an analyst; in that role, he helped stand-up a contracting and portfolio management strategy associated with a significant capital portfolio increase/investment in FirstEnergy’s distribution and transmission assets.

Thereafter, he was promoted through various Support and Operations Director roles in FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania and Ohio footprint, including time as FirstEnergy’s Corporate Director of Asset, Portfolio and Project Management, with a total capital portfolio in excess of $1.2B.

His last role at FirstEnergy was as President of the Pennsylvania Electric Company. As President, he was responsible for all aspects of Penelec’s safety, operational effectiveness, customer service and financial performance. He left FirstEnergy to join Ashton Gray, LLC as President and Partner of Ashton Gray Energy, LLC. While at Ashton Gray Energy, he helped turn-around the oil field services and infrastructure operating entities to position both for divestiture. Upon completing the successful divestiture of Ashton Gray Energy’s operations, he joined UMS Group in his current position.

Privately, Nicholas and his wife Chelsea reside in Oklahoma City, OK and focus most of their time on their young daughter. When not with his family, he enjoys golfing or fishing. He is also a member of various past and present non-profit boards including founding Folds of Honor – Northern Ohio Chapter, Erie Regional Chamber Growth Partnership, The United Way, Cuyahoga County Public Library Foundation, and most recently, Folds of Honor – Oklahoma City Chapter.

Ed joined UMS Group Europe In 2007. He has over 20 years of international consulting and management experience serving the energy and utility sector and has significant in-depth knowledge of the international utilities sector. Ed fulfilled different positions as manager in major Energy and Utility companies, as well as different senior roles in international management consulting firms. 

His current focus area is in the Energy Transition, especially in the area of Strategic Asset Management. He is supporting his business partners understanding the impact of digitalization and guiding them in the transformation towards “Data driven Asset Management”.

Prior to UMS Group Ed fulfilled managerial roles within an Energy Utility company and management consulting roles within a global ICT company. His drivers are to understand complex situations, design pragmatic solutions and embedding these into the organizations. Ed holds a Master of Science degree in Business Administration (Management of Innovation) from the Rotterdam School of management, Erasmus University and a Bachelor degree in Engineering.

Larisa is a Principal with UMS Group and has been with the company for over 22 years. She serves as the Managing Director of UMS Group’s Digital Solutions Practice, focusing on the development of new software, tools and data services and leads a team of twenty employees in the company’s Global Business Intelligence Center (GBIC) office located in the Philippines.

Over the years, she has focused much of her time on product development and advanced analytics, project and product management, asset, risk and performance management, client benchmarking & global best practice programs, process improvement, and quality assurance projects. She has led numerous client engagements throughout the US and Canada and has spent a substantial amount of time working abroad with global utility clients in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Larisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, with a concentration in Multinational Management, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as minors in French and Spanish.

Patrick brings over 15 years of consulting and industry experience in capital intensive, heavy industries. He leads the Global Learning Consortia line of business for UMS Group. He specializes in asset and enterprise performance improvement, operational strategy and efficiency, and benchmarking and data-led improvements. He is frequently published on the topics of energy and mining operations and how to generate value pragmatically and sustainably.

Prior to appointment as Vice President and Managing Director at UMS Group, Patrick was the global leader of the oil and gas consulting and technology business for GEP Worldwide and a Director in PwC's Strategy and Operations practice based in Australia, China, Mexico, and the U.S.

Patrick holds Bachelors degrees in Economics, Russian, and both a Juris Doctorate and Master of Law focused on Energy Law and Finance.

Founded

The company was founded in 1989 by Jack Shearman who still leads the business from the head office in Parsippany, NJ, USA.

Australian Subsidiary

The US office was followed by a subsidiary in Melbourne for the Asia Pacific region (later moved to Sydney).

UK Office Opening

UMS Group officially launched the European business with an office in the United Kingdom.

2005-2006

US Satellite Expansion – VA, IL, PA

Satellite offices were established in Richmond, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Europe Office Opening

UMS Group expanded operations within Europe and moved the European office to Amsterdam.

Europe Expansion

European hubs were opened in Germany, the UK and Sweden.

2008-2012

US Expansion – FL and NC

The Florida satellite was expanded and a North Carolina satellite was established.

Manila Office Opening

The Manila office was opened as UMS Group’s Global Business Intelligence Center, leading the application development and advanced analytics/data science functions.

The US satellite offices were expanded to include a Houston location.
