Business Analyst is the
college graduate entry level position at UMS Group.
Business Analysts are given a great deal of
responsibility from the moment they join the firm,
most often interacting directly with clients and
senior executives within UMS. Business Analysts
gather, validate and analyze client data; develop
and investigate hypotheses concerning client
processes and performance; and develop and apply
analytical frameworks and methodologies to produce
client deliverables. Business
Analysts should expect a moderate degree of both
domestic and international travel on UMS Group
business.
Consultant
Ideal
candidates will have 2 to 4 years of experience in
the electric power, water, and/or natural gas
utilities industries, with a record of success.
Relevant experience could include asset management,
distribution operations improvement, regulatory
strategy and analysis, performance management,
financial management, customer service, shared
services, or the business use of technology. We are
seeking highly motivated, self-starting consultants.
Masters Degree/MBA or equivalent
preferred but not required. UMS Group Consultants
participate in development of proposals, delivery of
client projects most often in our client offices.
Consultants travel extensively and often both
domestically and internationally.
Senior Associate and Director
Ideal
candidates will have 4 to 10 years of
utility consulting or utility company experience.
These positions represent project leadership,
thought leadership and business/sales development
opportunities for those individuals seeking new
challenges and commensurate rewards. Engagements
will include assessment of client processes and
performance metrics, identifying and quantifying
value enhancement opportunities, facilitating client
teams through process redesign and strategy
development, investigating global leading practices
and strategies for reaching and sustaining superior
performance, and developing decision-support tools
and models for our clients. Senior Associates and
Directors serve as Project Managers for specific
client engagements, as well as team members of
larger client engagements. They also team with UMS
Group Principals and Officers to develop consulting
solutions, prepare and present proposals, manage
client relations, and implement UMS developed
process solutions and decision-support tools.
These are
our entry level management positions and require
extensive global travel and individual initiative
and accountability with respect to both project
delivery and new business development.
Senior Associate (Senior Project Engineer)
Provides technical and management consulting and supports sales for electric utility clients. Manages engineering projects, particularly in the areas of URD cable replacement, storm hardening, and forestry control. Evaluates electric distribution performance, identifying performance gaps and providing support to implement gap-closing performance improvement plans. Assesses processes and performance against industry standard metrics, identifying and quantifying improvement opportunities, facilitates process redesign and strategy development efforts, and develops decision-support tools and models. Drafts reports, proposals, technical position papers and presentations. 60% travel required; will tele-commute balance of time from home. Req. MS in Electrical or Systems Engineering + 4 years exp in job offered or related field in the electric utility industry, & demonstrated proficiency in technical writing.
